Singin’ in the Rain
Rating: G Runtime:
1 hr. 42 min.
I was flipping channels and found
Singin’ in the Rain and decided to give it a watch. This movie is about an
actor, Don Lockwood, who falls for a singer, Kathy Seldon, but their
relationship is put to the test when Don’s onscreen girlfriend causes trouble
for Kathy.
Pro: Although the plot line is not unique, but it does not take
away from how well the movie is acted. The movie flowed very nicely. The
incorporation of song made the typical boy meets girl movie better. The
physical part of the movie, like the tap dancing, looks flawless and so easy,
but knowing that the dances require a lot of physical determination and energy.
Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds make the entire dancing look easy;
you can tell they had to do a lot of training to play that role
Con: Even though the movie was amazing, the Broadway number was the
most pointless performance in the whole movie. The scene had no point to it. The
only acting that was bad was Jean Hagen’s portrayal of Lina Lamont. The acting
was so frustrating and the character, Lina Lamont, was so annoying, it was hard
to sit through a scene with her in it.
Overall: The movie was good
for a musical and I enjoyed watching it. Even though I am not a big fan of musicals,
Singin’ in the Rain was a nice movie and I do recommend it.
